Welcome to the Barwon Division of General Practice
The Barwon Division of General Practice (BDGP) is a not-for-profit organisation primarily funded by the Australian Government, which supports General Practitioners and their staff to deliver the best possible primary health care to the Barwon region.
The region encompasses 43,000 sq kms and includes eleven towns (Barraba, Boggabri, Bingara, Collarenebri, Gunnedah, Manilla, Moree, Mungindi, Narrabri, Warialda and Wee Waa) with combined populations of 54,000.
The BDGP supports General Practice by providing local education and training opportunities, by recruiting and employing allied health professionals and by providing information, resources and networks to support a best practice approach to primary health care delivery in a rural setting.
The Barwon Division delivers over $2 million annually in health care solutions to the region. We are one of the smallest Divisions in NSW in terms of our GP numbers but one of the largest geographically, and facilitate one of the most comprehensive packages of health programs to General Practice in the state.
Our mission is to provide an advocacy role for General Practitioners, to promote quality general practice and effective integration of health care delivery in the Barwon Division area.
Please take a look at some of the great programs we are currently managing which are working to improve health outcomes for residents in our region. |
